Abdominoplasty (removal of excess skin)

Abdominoplasty (removal of excess skin)

Abdominoplasty – a surgical manipulation, aimed at removing excess skin, subcutaneous fat tissue, often restoring the integrity of the abdominal wall muscles, which have separated due to pregnancy or hernial protrusions with the goal of restoring normal aesthetic proportions of this part of the body. Abdominoplasty is also used as the second stage of body surgical correction after abdominal liposuction and after a recovery period. The phased implementation of these two operations, in our opinion, is often dictated by the need for a clear understanding of the condition and amount of excess skin. This, subsequently, leads to predictable and good results. Pregnancy or weight fluctuations do not always necessitate an abdominoplasty procedure. However, if the abdominal skin has not retracted within 6 months after childbirth, it is possible to consider this surgical correction. [accordion][accor_block title="INDICATIONS FOR ABDOMINOPLASTY"] Excessive deposits of subcutaneous adipose tissue of the anterior abdominal wall. Change in the shape of the abdomen with the formation of a skin fold (apron) Separation (diastasis) of the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall Postpartum stretch marks (striae) [/accor_block][accor_block title="TECHNIQUE OF PERFORMING ABDOMINOPLASTY"] In abdominoplasty, a transverse incision is made in the suprapubic area along the bikini line. Subsequently, the postoperative scar is camouflaged by underwear. Then the adipocutaneous flap is dissected up to the costal arch, during which the navel is identified. Exposed rectus muscles are sutured in a new position to shape the waist. Excess skin with subcutaneous fat is excised, and a new navel is formed. Sometimes, as indicated, lower abdominal abdominoplasty is performed without transferring the navel. [/accor_block][accor_block title="ANESTHESIA"] general anesthesia:

[/accor_block][accor_block title="DURATION OF SURGERY"] On average, abdominoplasty lasts 2-4 hours. The duration of the surgery largely depends on the amount of tissue removed (it is greater in obese people). [/accor_block][accor_block title="HOSPITAL STAY"] After abdominoplasty, a stay of 1-3 days in the hospital is necessary. The duration is determined individually based on the patient's overall condition. [/accor_block][accor_block title="POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD AND REHABILITATION"] Temporary pain sensations last for several days. Wearing special compression garments for an extended period is required (individually tailored). Social activity with some restrictions 10-12 days after surgery. Full physical activity is possible after 6-8 weeks. [/accor_block][accor_block title="RISKS"] Modern surgical techniques, the surgeon's qualification, and the level of clinic equipment allow minimizing possible risks. Nevertheless, you need to be aware of potential complications, which you can learn about in the informed consent for the surgery. [/accor_block][/accordion]
