Every third woman encounters urinary tract infections at least once in her life. Cystitis – an acute inflammatory disease of the bladder – is a common problem, often recurring.
Acute uncomplicated cystitis often has a bacterial nature: it can be caused by E. coli and staphylococcus.
A woman has a short urethra, with the vagina located very close to it. This facilitates the path for microbes. They enter the urethra during hygienic procedures or contact with a source of infection. From the urethra, microorganisms ascend to the bladder, actively proliferate there, attaching to the epithelium.
This layer – a protection for the mucous membrane of the bladder. It prevents urine from contacting the adjacent tissues of the organ.
If E. coli attaches to the mucous membrane, the epithelium is damaged,
causing inflammation,
and thus cystitis occurs.
The disease is insidious because if treated incorrectly it often becomes chronic,
which will disrupt your life for a long time.
Why is it necessary to see a doctor when you have cystitis?
The forms and causes of cystitis are varied: bacterial,
candidal, and viral… And only a doctor, based on tests and clinical experience, can prescribe the right treatment for you.
And only a doctor can cure chronic cystitis.
Symptoms of Cystitis
1.
Painful sensations during urination,
which intensify at the end of emptying.
2.
The occurrence of frequent urination (more than 7 times a day)
3.
There is a feeling that
the bladder has not emptied completely.
4.
The appearance of general weakness and increased body temperature.
5.
Frequent urges to empty the bladder.
During each urination, only a small amount of urine is released.
6.
Pain,
localized in the lower abdomen.
7.
The urine has a strong unpleasant odor.
8.
The color of the urine changes.
It becomes cloudy,
and sometimes there are blood inclusions.
9.
Purulent discharges from the urethra may occur during urination.
Since there are many causes and variants of cystitis,
there is no single “standard” treatment for all cases.
Therapy is prescribed by a doctor depending on many factors. Self-treatment can lead to a worsening of symptoms, antibiotic resistance, and complicate the establishment of the correct diagnosis.
