Laparoscopy in Gynecology

Laparoscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic method of surgical intervention. The method is minimally invasive and allows for quick rehabilitation. During the operation, instead of making an incision, several small punctures (3-4) of 0.5 - 1 cm in diameter are made. Through these punctures, a special instrument is inserted into the abdominal cavity, with which the doctor performs the necessary manipulations. Laparoscopy is suitable for most surgeries in gynecology. This may include:

  • removal of ovarian cysts;
    • removal of the fallopian tube (including in the case of an ectopic pregnancy);
    • fallopian tube plastic surgery;
    • removal of leiomyoma of the uterus with suturing of the bed (which is important for patients planning pregnancy);
    • separation of abdominal adhesions;
    • removal of neoplasms.

    Diagnostic laparoscopy is conducted for:

    • infertility of unclear origin;
    • lower abdominal pain of unknown origin.

    Advantages of laparoscopic surgery:

    • There is no need to make a large incision in the abdominal wall, sufficient with just a few punctures;
    • No postoperative pain and strict bed rest.
    • No postoperative hernias.
    • Significant reduction of blood loss and tissue trauma.
    • Postoperative complications minimized.
    • No need for pain relief medication
    • Quick rehabilitation and return to normal life levels
    • No scars and postoperative scars

    Ectopic pregnancy

    Ectopic pregnancy is a condition, in which the fertilized egg begins to develop outside the uterus, most often in the fallopian or ovarian tubes. This is a dangerous condition, which requires immediate medical attention. One of the methods of diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancy is laparoscopy. With laparoscopy, the doctor can detect and remove the fertilized egg from the tube, which allows preventing its rupture and stopping internal bleeding.

    If you suspect an ectopic pregnancy or other issues during pregnancy, discuss the possibility of laparoscopy with your doctor. If necessary, it can be an effective method of diagnosis and treatment.

    After surgery:

    The patient on the 2nd day - depending on the extent of the intervention - can already go home. Bloody discharge after surgery usually stops within 1 week.

    Is laparoscopy performed during critical days? As a rule, no. It is better to perform the surgery on another day of the cycle, During menstruation, it is best not to have surgery.

    Our clinic's surgical department is equipped with modern equipment necessary for performing minimally invasive surgeries.

    All surgeries are performed by surgeons with 20 years or more of experience.

    After the surgery, you will be in an atmosphere of care and attention from our staff.
