Parasitology: Diagnosis of parasitic infections

Diagnosis of parasitic infections

Parasite tests in Dnipro — comprehensive diagnostics for helminths and protozoa.

Diagnosis of parasitic infections | Parasitology
In our laboratory, we conduct comprehensive diagnostics of parasitic diseases using modern methods such as ELISA, PCR, and microscopy. We determine the presence of antibodies and DNA of the main causative agents of helminth and protozoan infections.

Serological tests (ELISA, blood):
- Giardiasis, Giardia lamblia, total antibodies (IgG+IgM+IgA)
- Ascariasis, Ascaris lumbricoides, IgG antibodies
- Toxocariasis, Toxocara canis, IgG antibodies
- Opisthorchiasis, Opisthorchis felineus, IgG antibodies
- Echinococcosis, Echinococcus granulosus, antibodies (IgG + IgA)
- Trichinosis, Trichinella spiralis, antibodies (IgG + IgA)

PCR panels for detecting parasite DNA (qualitative determination, stool)
"Intestinal Helminths" panel (9 pathogens):
Enterocytozoon spp./Encephalitozoon spp., Strongyloides spp., Hymenolepis spp., Ascaris spp., Taenia spp., Trichuris trichiura, Ancylostoma spp., Enterobius vermicularis, Necator americanus.

"Intestinal Protozoan Parasites" panel (6 pathogens):
Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, Cryptosporidium spp., Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Cyclospora cayetanensis.

Additionally, stool analysis is performed using the concentration method (Parasep) for microscopic detection of parasite eggs and cysts.

For a comprehensive assessment of the body's condition, the following may be prescribed:

Complete blood count (with leukocyte formula);

Urinalysis;

Eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP) — an indicator of allergic and parasitic reaction activity;

Immunoglobulin E (total IgE);

Liver panel (total protein, albumin, bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP, GGT).

Additional examination (separate fee)
Anisakis simplex or herring worm, antibodies / Anisakis simplex (Redger lab, Germany)
(Indirect Immunofluorescence test (IIFT)) – indirect immunofluorescence analysis – qualitative determination.
Indications for appointment:
In the presence of symptoms of anisakiasis (abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, as well as skin rashes and itching after consuming raw fish).
When examining patients with specific professional history (fishermen, fish sellers, chefs) or dietary habits (consumption of raw marine fish or squid).

Research methods:
Microscopy — allows visual detection of parasite eggs and larvae.
ELISA — detects antibodies to the most common pathogens.
PCR diagnostics — determines parasite DNA fragments with high accuracy even at an early stage of infection.

When it is recommended to undergo examination:

In cases of chronic fatigue, frequent allergies, skin rashes;
In cases of digestive disorders and reduced immunity;
Before pregnancy or planned surgeries;
To monitor the effectiveness of treatment.

Our advantages:

Modern laboratory equipment and certified reagents;

High accuracy, reliability, and speed of test results;

Convenient online access to results;

Opportunity to consult with an infectious disease specialist and receive a comprehensive report.
