Plasmapheresis: Three Methods of Blood Purification - What's the Difference and Which to Choose?

Plasmapheresis is a "blood detoxification" method that removes toxins, inflammatory proteins, and immune complexes from the body. This is particularly important for autoimmune, allergic, dermatological, neurological, and even hormonal issues. However, it's important to understand that there are different types of plasmapheresis, and the method used affects the procedure's effectiveness.
However, it's important to understand that there are different types of plasmapheresis, and the method used affects the procedure's effectiveness.

1. Discrete (Gravitational)

This is the classic method. Blood is collected in a container, separated into fractions (plasma and cellular elements), the plasma is discarded, and the cells are returned to the body.

Suitable for basic cleansing in cases of chronic inflammation, skin diseases, chronic fatigue syndrome, and autoimmune conditions.

2. Membrane (Apparatus-Based)

This procedure is performed using a special device: blood is passed through a semipermeable membrane that "filters" harmful molecules.

This is a more "intelligent" and controllable system. It is suitable for severe intoxications, metabolic disorders, allergies, and neurological pathologies. The advantage is that the procedure is quick and controlled.

3. Cryoplasmapheresis

This is an advanced level. After extraction, the plasma is frozen, causing harmful proteins (including cryoglobulins) to precipitate, after which the purified portion is returned to the patient.

It is used for systemic vasculitis, hepatitis, autoimmune skin diseases, and when other methods no longer work.

Which method to choose?

The choice depends on the diagnosis, the goal, and the patient's condition. It is best to discuss this with a doctor who is knowledgeable in efferent therapy.

But the main point is that plasmapheresis is not just "blood cleansing," but a serious medical tool that, when applied correctly, can initiate recovery processes at the systemic level.

In our clinic, all three methods are used, and we select them individually.
