Diagnosis of Helminthiasis – The First Step to Effective Treatment of Parasitic Infections
Our check-up includes:
Laboratory and Instrumental Examination Methods
Serological Tests (ELISA, Blood):
- Giardiasis, Giardia lamblia, total antibodies (IgG+IgM+IgA)
- Ascariasis, Ascaris lumbricoides, IgG antibodies
- Toxocariasis, Toxocara canis, IgG antibodies
- Opisthorchiasis, Opisthorchis felineus, IgG antibodies
- Echinococcosis, Echinococcus granulosus, antibodies (IgG + IgA)
- Trichinellosis, Trichinella spiralis, antibodies (IgG + IgA)
PCR Panels for Detecting Parasite DNA (Qualitative Determination, Stool)
"Intestinal Helminths" Panel (9 Pathogens):
Enterocytozoon spp./Encephalitozoon spp., Strongyloides spp., Hymenolepis spp., Ascaris spp., Taenia spp., Trichuris trichiura, Ancylostoma spp., Enterobius vermicularis, Necator americanus.
"Intestinal Protozoan Parasites" Panel (6 Pathogens):
Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, Cryptosporidium spp., Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Cyclospora cayetanensis.
Additionally, stool analysis is performed using the concentration method (Parasep) for microscopic detection of parasite eggs and cysts.
Complete Blood Count (with Leukocyte Formula);
Urinalysis;
Eosinophilic Cationic Protein (ECP) – Indicator of Allergic and Parasitic Reactions Activity;
Immunoglobulin E (Total IgE);
Liver Panel (Total Protein, Albumin, Bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP, GGT).
Consultations with a General Practitioner
Ultrasound Diagnostics:
Ultrasound of Abdominal Organs - Liver, Gallbladder, Pancreas, Spleen.
Ultrasound of the Urinary System: Kidneys, Adrenal Glands, Bladder.
Medical Support
Medical Consultation with Chief Physician - Perelygin I.V.
Additional Examination (Separate Fee):
- Anisakis simplex or Herring Worm, Antibodies / Anisakis simplex (Redger Lab, Germany)
(Indirect Immunofluorescence Test (IIFT)) – Qualitative Determination.
Indications for Appointment:
In the presence of anisakiasis symptoms (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, as well as skin rashes and itching after consuming raw fish).
When examining patients with specific professional history (fishermen, fish sellers, chefs) or diet (consumption of raw marine fish or squid).
- Fecal Calprotectin (Stool)
- Occult Blood in Stool
- Pancreatic Elastase (Stool)
Helminthiasis are diseases caused by parasitic worms (helminths) that can inhabit the intestines, liver, lungs, muscles, and other human organs. Infection often occurs unnoticed: parasite eggs enter the body through unwashed hands, poorly processed food, water, or contact with animals.
The danger of helminthiasis lies not only in disrupting the digestive system but also in systemic effects on the body. Parasites:
cause chronic inflammation and intoxication;
disrupt metabolism and nutrient absorption;
weaken the immune system and increase susceptibility to infections;
can provoke allergic reactions and skin rashes;
in severe cases – affect internal organs and the nervous system.
Early and accurate diagnosis is the key to successful treatment and prevention of complications.
When to Get Tested for Helminthiasis
Examination is recommended not only when infection is suspected but also for preventive purposes. It is essential to undergo diagnosis if you observe the following symptoms:
chronic fatigue, weakness, apathy;
nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain;
alternating constipation and diarrhea;
itching in the anal area;
unexplained weight loss;
skin rashes, allergic reactions;
teeth grinding during sleep, sleep disturbances.
Additionally, testing for helminthiasis is recommended for:
children (especially those attending kindergarten or school);
pet owners;
people working with soil or food products;
before planned pregnancy and medical procedures.
Diagnosis of helminthiasis is an important step in taking care of your health. Parasitic infections often proceed covertly, but their consequences can be extremely serious. Modern laboratory diagnostic methods allow for quick and accurate detection of parasites, selecting the right treatment, and preventing complications.
Regular examination is a reliable way to protect yourself and your loved ones from helminths and maintain health for many years.
