VACCINE PRIORIX

"Priorix" is a combined live vaccine that protects against three infectious diseases: measles, mumps, and rubella. The preparation is made from weakened viruses of these diseases and is designed to form a strong immunity by stimulating the production of antibodies.

🔹 What it protects against
• Measles — a highly contagious viral infection causing pneumonia and encephalitis.
• Mumps — risk of orchitis in males, pancreatitis, meningitis.
• Rubella — especially dangerous during pregnancy (congenital rubella).

• Usually administered to children:
• 1st dose: at 12–15 months (in some countries, it may be at 12 months).
• 2nd dose: at 4–6 years.
• Can be used for adolescents and adults if they are unvaccinated or have no vaccination records.
• Protection against rubella is important for adult women of reproductive age.

🛡 Immunity
Develops against all three infections:
• after the 1st dose — already high
• after the 2nd dose — lifelong or very long-lasting

🤒 Side effects
Usually mild and short-lived:

Common:
• Redness and swelling at the injection site
• Temperature of 37.5–38.5°C

• Chickenpox (Varilrix vaccine)

If not given simultaneously, live vaccines should be spaced at least 28 days apart.

ℹ️ Additional facts
• The vaccine does not cause autism — this has been proven in numerous studies.
• Immunity to measles after vaccination is very high (≈98% after 2 doses).
• Generally better tolerated than single-component live vaccines.
