Infanrix Hexa is a combination vaccine that protects against six dangerous infections in one shot: whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). It is intended for the prevention of these diseases in children starting from the age of two months.
• Infanrix Hexa is intended for the immunization of infants and young children.
• Vaccination typically starts at 6 weeks of age.

How it is administered — vaccination schedule

• Seizures, shock-like reactions, collapse, prolonged crying — in severe reactions to the pertussis component (rare).
Contraindications and precautions
Infanrix Hexa is not recommended / should not be used if:
• The child had a severe allergic reaction to any vaccine component, including trace residues of antibiotics (neomycin/polymyxin) or formaldehyde.
• There was a serious reaction after a previous pertussis-containing vaccine — for example, unexplained encephalopathy within 7 days after vaccination.
• The child has a severe acute infection or high fever — vaccination should be postponed until recovery.
Also, as with any vaccination: before the shot, the doctor assesses the child's condition. After vaccination, the child should be observed for about 30 minutes.
