Rheumatological markers — accurate diagnosis of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases

Rheumatological markers | Biochemical Research
Analyses:

C-reactive protein (CRP),
rheumatoid factor (RF),
antistreptolysin-O (ASO),
antibodies to cyclic citrullinated peptide (Anti-CCP).
Uric acid.

These are used for the diagnosis of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases of the joints and connective tissue: rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, systemic vasculitis...

Main rheumatological markers

The research complex includes:

Rheumatoid factor (RF) — a marker of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune processes.

Antibodies to cyclic citrullinated peptide (Anti-CCP) — a highly specific indicator of early arthritis.

Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) — used for the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis.

Antibodies to DNA (dsDNA) — specific for SLE.

C-reactive protein (CRP) — a general marker of inflammation and autoimmune process activity.

Antibodies to ENA antigens — allow differentiation of the type of systemic connective tissue disease.

ASO (antistreptolysin-O) — an indicator of post-streptococcal complications (rheumatism, glomerulonephritis).

When it is recommended to take tests for rheumatological markers:

- pain, stiffness, and swelling of the joints;

- chronic fatigue, fever, rashes;

- suspicion of autoimmune diseases;

- monitoring treatment with a rheumatologist;

- unexplained inflammation of internal organs or muscles.
