A mammologist is a doctor specialized in diagnosing and treating breast diseases in women. The responsibilities of mammologists include not only examining and addressing existing problems but also timely prevention of potential diseases. Unfortunately, statistics indicate that breast cancer has become the most common cancer among Ukrainian women and claims at least 100 lives weekly.
Regular breast examination is extremely necessary even if,
if nothing bothers you. Starting from the age of 25,
it is your duty not only to your own health,
but also to the people who love you...
First and foremost,
it is recommended to regularly conduct a self-exam according to the scheme below (most importantly,
without excessive "enthusiasm" and brute force,
as the mammary gland is a fragile and sensitive organ).
This will allow you to notice changes in time and rush to a mammologist,
who will provide clarity.
It is advisable to conduct it on the 5-10th day of the cycle,
When the mammary glands "swell" after the onset of menstruation.
- Conduct an inspection in front of a mirror for a visual assessment. The size of the breasts should remain unchanged. The skin should not have any local changes, the nipple is not inverted and there are no discharges from it. When leaning, the breast maintains its natural mobility.
- Carefully palpate the breast, lifting the arm on that side (for example, when palpating the left breast, raise the left arm up, and examine with the right). Repeat this procedure while lying down.
The breast should not have any lumps or overly sensitive areas.
If during self-examination you notice something troubling (painful, cutting sensations, lumps, changes in shape, nipple retraction, discharges when pressed, hematomas, changes in skin areas, as well as tenderness or enlargement of the axillary lymph nodes), go see a mammologist who will conduct an examination using ultrasound equipment (up to 35-40 years old) or refer for a mammography (after 35-40 years old).
Do not immediately despair and diagnose yourself with a malignant neoplasm, as it could be mastopathy,
fibroadenoma,
cyst, or other diseases,
easily treatable.
Regular visits to a mammologist are also recommended for women over 35,
when planning hormonal treatment,
after breast injuries,
with chronic gynecological diseases,
as well as after abortion or surgical intervention.
The insidiousness of breast cancer lies in the fact that
they often don't make themselves known until the last moment. That is precisely why these statistics are so disheartening. This happens due to insufficient awareness and saving time on one's own health.
At the "Genesis Dnipro" clinic, you can undergo a comprehensive examination with modern equipment from the best global manufacturers - SAMSUNG HS 50.
This is an expert-level device,
with the ability to perform elastography - that is, it allows the assessment of the tissue density of a neoplasm,
if one is detected…
Moreover,
At our facility, you can not only get a thorough examination but also immediately begin treatment (since "timely" is a key word in any treatment).
The main thing is not to delay your visit!
And here are a few interesting facts on mammology:
- 80% of detected nodules are benign;
- The risk of cancer does not increase after breast augmentation with implants;
- Breast size does not affect the incidence of disease;
- Cancer is not always a solid mass.
It can manifest as skin reactions,
painful sensations,
Swelling of lymph nodes, etc.;
- Drinks with high caffeine content (coffee, tea) do not affect the occurrence of cancer.
We wish you robust health!
