Taking oral contraceptives usually starts on the first day of the cycle, that is, on the first day of menstruation. Therefore, if you come for an appointment in the middle or near the end of the cycle and want to prevent menstruation from starting, it will not be possible.

Postponing menstruation is possible only when you take oral contraceptives over a long period (at least 2–3 cycles). To do this, you need to skip the usual 7-day break and immediately start taking the next pack.

In doing so, it is important to know several important points:
• Sometimes the hormonal system is so strong that the body resists in every way, and some sort of menstrual-like reaction still occurs;
• At the beginning of taking oral contraceptives (first and second pack), a menstrual-like reaction may occur as a side effect: dark, slightly bloody, spotting discharge;

Is it safe to use this method?

Yes,
if you take oral contraceptives for a long time and such a need arises once or twice a year.
But you should not abuse this – menstruation should occur at least once every 3 months...
While taking oral contraceptives, menstruation is less abundant in terms of quantity and shorter in duration,
so it's not always necessary to put your period on pause.
