DIAGNOSTIKA ALLERGII
Allergic diseases can manifest with skin rashes, runny nose, cough, tearing, swelling, digestive disorders, and other symptoms. Allergy is one of the most common problems facing modern people. According to statistics, more than 30% of the population suffers from various forms of allergic reactions, and this number continues to grow. Allergies can manifest in many ways: from mild itching and runny nose to severe skin rashes, bronchospasms, or anaphylactic shock.
The main difficulty is that symptoms are often disguised as a common cold, skin conditions, or digestive disorders. Without accurate diagnostics, it is impossible to determine the true cause of the reaction and choose effective treatment. That is why a regular allergy check-up (comprehensive allergy examination) is crucial for health and quality of life.
When to Get Tested
Allergy testing is recommended if you experience at least one of the following symptoms:
- Frequent runny nose, sneezing, or nasal itching without obvious cause;
- Tearing, redness, and swelling of the eyes;
- Cough, difficulty breathing, or bronchospasms;
- Skin rashes, itching, redness, or swelling;
- Abdominal pain, bloating, digestive disturbances after eating;
- Seasonal deterioration in well-being (spring, summer, autumn).
Testing is also mandatory for children with atopic dermatitis, patients with chronic respiratory diseases, and those with a family history of allergies.
Why the Allergy Check-Up Is So Important
✅ Allows precise identification of allergy causes rather than merely suppressing symptoms.
✅ Helps prevent severe reactions in the future.
✅ Forms the basis for developing personalized treatment plans.
✅ Improves quality of life by reducing frequency and severity of flare-ups.
Recommendation: it is advised to undergo an allergy check-up once a year or more frequently if allergy symptoms are seasonal or worsening.

Preparing for the Allergy Check-Up
Proper preparation for the examination ensures the most accurate laboratory diagnostic results and an objective assessment of your immune system’s condition.
Preparation for Laboratory Tests
Blood samples should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach after 8–12 hours of fasting.
Only plain, non-carbonated water is allowed.
Hydration
Drink 1–2 glasses of non-carbonated water 1–2 hours before blood collection.
Alcohol
Completely avoid alcohol for 48 hours before the examination.
Physical Activity
Avoid intense physical activity, sauna, and steam bath for 24 hours before the test.
It is recommended to sit calmly for 10–15 minutes before blood collection.
Smoking
Do not smoke at least 1–2 hours before blood collection.
Medication
Antihistamines
Discontinuation of antihistamines (loratadine, cetirizine, levocetirizine, desloratadine, fexofenadine, etc.) is not required. They do not affect ALEX2 molecular test and FOX test results because these tests detect antibodies in the blood, not allergy symptom severity.
Hormonal Medications
If you are taking systemic glucocorticosteroids, immunosuppressants, or biological therapy, be sure to inform your doctor before the examination.
Features of the ALEX2 Test
- Can be performed at any time of year, regardless of pollen season.
- The analysis can be done during an allergy exacerbation or remission.
- Prior discontinuation of allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) is usually not required, but you should inform your doctor about ongoing treatment.
Features of the FOX Test (Food Intolerance)
For the most reliable result, maintain your usual diet for 2–3 weeks before the examination. Do not exclude any foods unless related to severe allergic reactions or as directed by a physician.
Doctor’s Consultation
Before consulting the therapist, it is recommended to prepare:
- A list of complaints and symptoms;
- Information about the timing of allergic reactions and possible triggers;
- A list of medications you are taking;
- Results of previous examinations (if available).
This will help the doctor interpret the test results more accurately and develop an individualized plan for further treatment or prevention.
