Neonatologist - is a doctor specializing in the care of newborns and infants, as well as in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that may arise in the first months of life.
Calling a neonatologist to your home can be especially convenient for parents who are unable to take their baby to a hospital or clinic. It can also be useful if the child is ill or in a condition that makes transportation difficult or dangerous.
When should you call a neonatologist to your home?
Here are some situations when this may be necessary:
- high fever that does not decrease with regular antipyretic medications;
- breathing problems, such as the child gasping for air or frequently wheezing;
- poor appetite or refusal to eat or drink, refusal of breastfeeding or bottle feeding;
- rash or other changes on the skin;
- constant crying and inability to be soothed;
- any anomalies or developmental defects that require ongoing monitoring and care.
The doctor will arrive at the specified time, examine the child, identify the cause of their condition, and prescribe treatment. In some cases, additional tests or consultations with other specialists may be required.
