Gardasil 9 is a modern vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV), providing protection against 9 of the most common and dangerous types of the virus:
• High-risk oncogenic types: 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58
• Types causing genital warts: 6 and 11

What it protects against:
• Cervical cancer (up to 90% of cases are linked to HPV)
• Vaginal and vulvar cancer
• Anal cancer
• Some oropharyngeal cancers
• Genital warts

Who is it recommended for:
• Girls and boys aged 9–14 (optimal age is before the onset of sexual activity).
• Vaccination is possible for adults up to 45 years old — the decision is made by a doctor.

Important:
• The vaccine does not treat existing HPV infections.
• Even if sexually active, the vaccine is still beneficial as it protects against types the person has not yet encountered.
